A Time for Growth!

With the arrival of spring comes the opportunity for growth and branching out in new directions. In this issue we highlight our participation once again at the National Stationery Show, where we will launch our new line of "Colorful Cocktails" products. We also report on our new Board involvement with several arts and nonprofit organizations, and offer big congratulations to our client Jennifer Higdon on her 2010 Pulitzer Prize!

Berkeley Symphony Gala Berkeley Symphony

We are pleased to announce that CDS President Kathy Canfield Shepard has joined the Board of Directors of the Berkeley Symphony.

Berkeley Symphony's 2010-11 season with Music Director Joana Carneiro continues the orchestra's mission of presenting the cutting edge of the classical music tradition. Featured are commissioned works by Enrico Chapela and Du Yun, a return appearance by composer John Adams, performances of lesser-known works by Manuel de Falla, Peter Lieberson and James MacMillan, as well as favorite repertoire by Beethoven, Messiaen, Shostakovich, and Stravinsky.

The Annual Spring Gala will be held Friday, April 30, 2010
at the Claremont Resort and Spa in Berkeley.

Free for All at Town Hall Free for All at Town Hall

Kathy also continues to serve on the Board of "Free for All at Town Hall," which presents superlative artists in an ideal setting ALL AT NO CHARGE! Tickets for all concerts are available starting at noon on the day of every concert. Tickets are for assigned seats, and are distributed on a "first-come, first served" basis, two tickets per person, per concert. New York's historic Town Hall comfortably seats 1500 people, and is a great place to experience a live concert.

The 2010 Season includes:

      Sunday, June 6 at 2pm

Kathy was also recently elected to the Board of the San Francisco Bay Area Chapter of the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO), where she serves as Co-Chair of Public Policy.

Congratulations to Jennifer Higdon
on her Pulitzer!

Jennifer Higdon website Congratulations to Jennifer Higdon on her 2010 Pulitzer Prize in Music for her Violin Concerto. The citation from the Pulitzer committee cited Jennifer's work as "a deeply engaging piece that combines flowing lyricism with dazzling virtuosity". This work was commissioned by the Indianapolis Symphony (and premiered by them in February, 2009), Toronto Symphony, Baltimore Symphony and the Curtis Institute of Music.
